The Out of the Box Artist group have a new exhibition happening.

This is our Biennial exhibition which will take place next month in October.

Opening on Sunday 8th of October, 2-4pm.

Open Wed to Sun 12 – 5.

This is what my street looks like at the moment as Autumn is upon us.

I rake the leaves out into the street and wait for the street sweeper to come and take them away.  Others see me and get out their rakes and so on and so on, thinking that I know when the street sweeper is coming.  I don’t. Then we start over again.  But I secretly like this activity because there are not so many physical demands around the house and this one I find a pleasure.

I recently saw some beautiful quirky drawings by Kathy Siganakis and will endeavour to post some of these images with her permission soon.

Artist Lynette Webber’s clay sculpted head is a work in progress.

Lynette Webber is a painter, printmaker and all round artist in our out of the Box group and you can also add sculptor to that.  Lynette is also working towards our exhibition titled SEVEN.  As we are all still experimenting with ideas and media I can’t at this early stage tell you where SEVEN fits into the title.  All the same he is a beautiful character and I can’t wait to see him finished. Love the ears!

Interiors, florals and still-life are some of the subjects currently being tackled by our artists.

This flower detail is by Virginia McNamara, This lounge room detail is by Beryl White and it looks very much like one of her atmospheric paintings in the background.

This is one of the first still life paintings I have made for the series, small, acrylic and pencil.

These two are photographs of some still life set ups that I Anne Warren  have yet to attempt.  I’m liking the one on the left but not the one on the right.  My rooms are currently full of borrowed bottles, jugs, vases from friends and neighbours for me to paint.

This is an amazing place to visit for it’s beautiful building and exhibitions – MONA, Tasmania.

Virginia McNamara was the lucky person that was gifted this trip to Tasmania (off the eastern mainland over the sea and to the south of Australia).   Tasmania has always been famous for it’s magnificent landscape, walking trails, mountains, beaches etc.  More recently it has become the place to go if you love Art because there is an architect designed purpose built private museum called Mona.  Here are a few images from inside and outside the gallery.  Hope you enjoy seeing them.

A fun meeting was held last night to discuss our forthcoming Art Exhibition titled ‘Seven’.

.

We had lots of food, made some art using pens and ink and scissors, had some wine and talked alot.

Just as we were saying goodbye we remembered that we actually didn’t discuss any details regarding the exhibition.  It didn’t matter really because we are such an organised lot and we had several members of the group missing anyway.  One was travelling (lucky thing), one at the ballet (en pointe), one lives such a long way (and has cows) and another wrestling with replacing some technology in her business.  All were missed very much. We ate: Stuffed peppers (greek style) with tsatsiki, roast baby potatoes, garden salad with avocado, rhubarb crumble with cream, sparkling rose and tea and chocolate.

I’ll post over the next few weeks some of the work happening towards our exhibition.

Some gorgeous pics of an early Autumn morning in Melbourne plus a couple of little tiny artworks.

Our group will be meeting next week and I will then be flush with images and posts for you to see however in the meantime here are a few Melbourne pictures from the beautiful Studley Park in Fairfield, a tiny little collage and a tiny little doodle that I made.       Anne

Beryl’s art focus is on colour for new paintings to be exhibited later this year.

  Beryl was kind enough to send me some studio pictures to share with you.  You can see how industrious she has been.  Looks like around seven plus oil paintings that I can see here.

–  At the moment I am working towards our group exhibition in August.  My focus in this exhibition is on colour.

The reflections landscape is a holiday spot somewhere secret in Victoria and Oscar the cute dog now lives full-time with Sue.  Good luck to them both.
