We had lots of food, made some art using pens and ink and scissors, had some wine and talked alot.
Just as we were saying goodbye we remembered that we actually didn’t discuss any details regarding the exhibition. It didn’t matter really because we are such an organised lot and we had several members of the group missing anyway. One was travelling (lucky thing), one at the ballet (en pointe), one lives such a long way (and has cows) and another wrestling with replacing some technology in her business. All were missed very much. We ate: Stuffed peppers (greek style) with tsatsiki, roast baby potatoes, garden salad with avocado, rhubarb crumble with cream, sparkling rose and tea and chocolate.
I’ll post over the next few weeks some of the work happening towards our exhibition.

Our group will be meeting next week and I will then be flush with images and posts for you to see however in the meantime here are a few Melbourne pictures from the beautiful Studley Park in Fairfield, a tiny little collage and a tiny little doodle that I made.

Several of our artists are participating (donating) artworks to this fundraiser. If nearby pop in and pick up a unique ready to hang artwork for $150.
Stockroom Selection Exhibition
From August this year Cambridge Studio Gallery is starting the first of our new stockroom exhibitions. We have selected works from artists that have had a history with the gallery as well as promoting some interesting new artists. There will be an eclectic selection of paintings, sculpture, jewellery and a few surprises!
While the gallery’s business model still represents artists by providing space for their exhibitions, we will be value adding to the viewer experience by dedicating the upstairs gallery space to the Stockroom Selection. Works will be displayed in a less formal “salon-hang” that allows clients to purchase and take home works on the day.

Congratulations to Cambridge for their first stockroom exhibition and best wishes to Ness for her upcoming solo exhibition.
The MCOLLECTION Art Award is a competition created and independently run by The MCollection, a Melbourne based, contemporary Australian Art Collective.
The aim of the MCollection Award is to encourage unrepresented Victorian artists and support the
Melbourne art community.
The award consists of a $7,000 cash prize, for the winning entrant and an art supplies
incentive for runner up.
Congratulations to Anne for being shortlisted for her piece Totem Poles – The things that spoke.
I have made a number of totem poles from cutout images of human and mechanical/man made pieces intertwined. As is life. (Anne Warren)

Here are two gorgeous examples of collage by Virginia McNamara from the Womens Business exhibition. Virginia has played with scale and sourced images from different periods and brought them together in a brand new quirky format.
The work evolves from a simple idea that eventually becomes an assemblage of different media.
Twiggy Pharoh Matrix has an ink surface, drawings, collage from at least 8 different sources and papercut.
For me the ideal would be for all these disparate sources to come together to make the one new image.
Inversion was from the exhibition of 2009 ‘Life, Love, Laughter’.
