Art Exhibition 2015 Meeting at Evelyn’s House

Art Exhibition 2015 Meeting at Evelyn’s House
I don’t have any pics from our meeting.  The meeting was held for us to plan and discuss the 2015 exhibition we will have.
Discussion for meeting = 5 minutes
Food, Salads, Pumpkin Pie (a first for most of us Australians), beautiful big juicy sweet strawberries and cherries, fritatta, champagne, coffee ….  = 150 minutes
So you see it was a very busy meeting and loads of fun which we hope will translate into wonderful pieces in our exhibition.
Below is a wonderful and very supportive gallery for our group.  If in Melbourne pop in as it is well worth a visit.

This work titled Deforestation is a poignant comment on the ongoing problem of the removal of our forests . The artist Shane Coutts is one of the artists featured in the current exhibition “Magic Landscape” from Araluen Centre. The work is a timber construction that cleverly plays with perspective and perception.

We have another of our group that has opened up her studio as a gallery to help other artists – I will post some information in the future (when we get some pics).

Here are some quirky portraits made by a few members of our group for Cambridge Studio Gallery exhibition.

The exhibition has ended but as you can see we all took our art into new areas and had fun with it.

The eye is the window into the soul, but it also is how we look out at the world.

The eye is the window into the soul, but it also is how we look out at the world. So I decided to use the eye to represent some of the ways women do this: the extroverted, the introverted, beginning a somewhat scarey opportunity, and contemplating the opposite sex. They were shown in the recent Womens Business exhibition.

Two different techniques have been used in these pieces. They are all 4-layer fused glass panels(200 x 150 mm), but the eye and eyelid are created with application upon application of glass powders on 3 of the glass sheets, giving a softer, more dimensional effect than the figures, which are painted on one of the layers with onglaze.

Outward” was inspired by the eye of a lively young female Parks Victoria ranger.
Inward was inspired by a magazine article and a photo of a woman who had experienced multiple family tragedies.
Onward was inspired by the eye of a woman who came to Melbourne from Asia as a teenager.
Other, somewhat the odd bod in the series and actually the first, was inspired by the eye of a very good-looking tour guide of Irish-Aboriginal ancestry in the Kimberley.
